Hospital Care

About the Project

This project in Kenya is ideal for student or graduate volunteers in all areas of health.
Hospitals in Kenya are divided into different levels based on the activities offered, infrastructure and human resources that serve patients. At level 2 we have health centers, medical and dental clinics that work with a minimum number of doctors, nurses, laboratory technicians and nutritionists. At level 4, hospitals have more complete services and specialized teams. In addition, they attend to emergencies, provide antiretroviral therapy and prophylaxis, high-complexity births and high-risk pregnancies.
The volunteer can work at the community health post and also at the level 4 hospital that serves the city of Kisii. The decision of the place of performance will depend on the consensus between the need of the region and the preference of the volunteer.

The areas in which the volunteer will be able to work vary from pediatrics, general practice, emergency room, orthopedics, nutrition, monitoring of pre and post surgical patients, among others.
Activities are always accompanied by local health professionals in all departments.
